Five Eyes: Save encryption!

Ministers from the Five Eyes Countries; Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the U.S have gone public with their plans for new laws concerning online security and data protection.

It's an outrageous campaign to paint encryption as being dangerous and illegal, and these Ministers want to crush the possibility of encryption with the goal to ban it completely.

This would mean the end to online commerce and communication as we know it. Everything from online shopping to banking to sending private messages would no longer be secure for the user. To take this away would mean taking away the right to protect our personal privacy and security!

Encryption is vital for our safety and security online. It is a means of protecting our day-to-day transactions, as well as our personal communications from hackers and malicious attackers.

The Five Eyes Ministers went on to say that technology companies should be forced to build ‘backdoor’s’ in their systems. However, this is not possible. There is no way to create encryption backdoors for law enforcement that wouldn’t make these systems even more vulnerable to hackers.

Security experts agree that any ‘master key’ built to allow access to security services would immediately become a target for hackers. Creating a backdoor would create a weakness in the safety and security of millions of people’s information and trust.
